At St. Leonard Parish, there are three groups that work with liturgy: the Worship Committee, the Liturgical Environment Committee and staff members who are the liturgy planners.
The Worship Committee is a crucial standing committee of the Pastoral Council that meets nearly every month. It nourishes and gives direction to the liturgical aspect of parish life. The Worship Committee helps ensure that parishioners receive opportunities to deepen their faith through a variety of prayer experiences and liturgical celebrations.
The work of this committee:
Recruit and provide formation for the various liturgical ministries
Coordinates the efforts of all liturgical ministers.
Sees to it that multiple forms of prayer and worship are provided in the parish.
Communicates among the various ministries for specific seasons and celebrations
Establishes worship policies, procedures and guidelines [Example: determine formation required for a person to serve in a liturgical ministry.]
Determines budget priorities in the area of the committee’s responsibility and makes appropriated recommendations to the budget process through the Finance Committee.
Evaluates the appropriateness and effectiveness of the parish’s worship (at least on a annual basis).
