"The Purpose of catechesis (Christian formation) is to make a person's faith become living, conscious, and active through the light of instruction... Catechesis is a lifelong process for the individual and a constant and concerted activity of the Christian Community." The Christian Learning and Spirituality Committee seeks to carry out its above stated purpose through program design and instruction, support of the work of the directors, and fundraising.
The Christian Learning and Spirituality Committee (CLAS) meets during monthly scheduled meetings to review the present status of the Lifelong Learning Christian Formation programs, sacramental preparation activities, and special need programs at St. Leonard. The committee provides guidance and suggestions to the Elementary and Youth Ministry Christian Formation directors, the Christian Formation Coordinator, and other departmental personnel. The committee also coordinates fund raising activities, with the intention to use the funds for the purpose of enhancing and supporting the Christian Formation programs at St. Leonard and to outreach to other needy programs.
The Christian Learning and Spirituality Committee supports all its members and provides general guidance and suggestions to ensure the Christian Formation programs meet the objectives of both the parents and the pastor.
