Donating to the Food Pantry

All parishioners are welcome to contribute nonperishable food items to our Food Pantry all year. Containers are located in the hallways outside of church. Our surplus of food is shared with the Muskego Food Pantry and our sister parish. Items may be dropped off before weekend Masses. Thank you!

Food Pantry Update

Thank you to all parishioners who donate food/hygiene/cleaning items to St. Leonard’s Food Pantry. Many people are blessed by your kindness!

The Human Concerns Committee will be making some changes to the items we would like donated to the pantry in the future. These changes are being made for several reasons:

  • Keep to the basics. This makes it easier for families to prepare healthy yet quick meals.
  • Receive certain items that pantries are consistently low on.
  • Provide our pantry and the pantries we support (Muskego Food Pantry and St. Rose Food Pantry) with healthier options. When healthy foods are not available people may choose ones that are higher in calories and lower in nutrition. People who rely on food pantries are disproportionately at risk for diet-related diseases.
  • Most people who use pantries are receiving FoodShare benefits. Items that CANNOT be bought with this benefit are household and personal cleaning items and paper products.
  • Discourage parishioners who “clean out their cupboards” Hopefully this will eliminate the odd, out of date/close to expiration date and opened packages that we receive.
