Every Parish Needs Builders
Pastoral Council Nomination 2026
My wife Heidi and I have been parishioners at St. Leonard Catholic Church since 2012, and our two daughters attend St. Leonard School. You’ve probably seen us around, especially after Mass on Hospitality Sundays with our daughters making a beeline for the donuts. Over the years, we’ve experienced firsthand what makes this parish special: people who step forward to build something meaningful together.
This year feels especially important.
With Fr. Pat early in his leadership at St. Leonard, we are entering a new chapter in the life of our parish. Times of transition create opportunities. They invite us to ask important questions: What kind of parish do we want to become? How can we better serve families, strengthen faith formation, welcome new members, and build community?
Those conversations do not happen on their own. Every parish needs builders.
One of the ways parishioners can help shape the future of St. Leonard is through the Pastoral Council. The council is a group of 12 parishioners who work collaboratively with the Pastor to help guide the vision and priorities of the parish. We support parish initiatives, encourage community involvement, and help discern where God is leading our parish family.
Right now, we are seeking two new members as part of our annual discernment process.
You do not need to be a theologian, public speaker, or lifelong volunteer to serve. We simply need parishioners who care about St. Leonard and are willing to listen, share ideas, and participate prayerfully in the life of the parish. Some people bring organizational skills. Others bring creativity, practical thinking, compassion, or fresh perspective. Every voice matters.
Serving on the Pastoral Council includes one meeting per month and serving as a liaison to a parish committee. Members must be registered parishioners and at least 18 years old. Terms are three years, with the option to renew for an additional three years.
If you have ever felt a quiet pull to become more involved, this may be the right time to explore it. Not everyone is called to serve in the same way, but everyone has gifts that can strengthen our parish community. The deadline to express interest is Sunday, June 14. Those interested will attend a Discernment Meeting on Wednesday, June 17, and the two new members will be installed at the 5 p.m. Mass on Saturday, June 20.
If you are interested in Pastoral Council, I invite you to complete the nomination form.
You can learn more and either nominate yourself or recommend someone you believe would be a good fit. Reach out to the Parish Office with any questions or if you’d like to serve our community in another capacity.
There are many ways to get involved at St. Leonard, and this is an exciting time to help shape what comes next. Every parish needs builders. Perhaps this is your time to help build what comes next at St. Leonard.
