Philosophy of teaching

As a product of Catholic education myself, I am thrilled to teach Catholic children at St. Leonard!  I greatly value small class size which gives more individual contact time with students and the ability to partner closely with their families.  I put myself in my students' shoes to better explain concepts clearly at their level.  My background in science and finance allows me to bring lessons to life with fun real-world examples, I believe weaving in historical context and mathematical curiosities gives the student a certain beauty and story behind the math at hand. I care deeply about creating a classroom where students enjoy learning and building strong critical thinking skills. My ultimate goal is to make sure every student feels supported today while confidently building the foundation they need for high school and beyond

Hobbies and interests

Much of my time is dedicated to family activities. Of six adopted children, two are still at home and we stay busy with sports and other activities at their neighboring Catholic school. When I get a free moment, I enjoy my lifelong hobby of collecting rare coins, playing chess, listening to music and enjoying movies with complex themes.  My faith also inspires my creativity; I enjoy writing Catholic essays and recently published my very first Catholic children's book!
