Lectors proclaim readings and general intercessions during worship services.The lector proclaims - that is, helps the scriptures come alive to touch the hearts and minds of the congregation. In addition, lectors may carry the Book of Gospels in the entrance procession and proclaims the general intercessions.
Lectors are assigned for all Sunday liturgies, holy days of obligation, and other special services. Lectors are assigned approximately once every six weeks. Parish members who have reached the age for receiving the sacrament of Confirmation are eligible to lector.
